The importance of driving Miami art culture in luxury living condominiums

Condominium Murals bring art culture to Midtown Miami.

We all know the importance of art in public spaces but what can art do to private living spaces in Miami’s top luxury living condominiums?  We have recently embarked on our latest mural journey in Miami’s thriving Midtown and Design District neighborhood condos.

The Location: 5th Floor Pool Deck Midtown Miami
Total Murals; 3 Large Scale Artworks
Theme: Wynwood meets Design District luxury retail

Our client expressed to us the importance of bringing the essence of Miami’s art culture to its building walls by curating an ongoing artwork installation that merges graffiti culture and high end luxury living. A very interesting mix indeed. We presented a few ideas that included the use of spray paint juxtaposed with stylized hand painted stencil artwork using complimentary colors to match the pool decks exterior.  The current works in progress have attracted new visitors who have been curious about the artwork and intrigued by the mural painting process.

A great way to reignite the street art culture that has made Miami one of the worlds top art mecca it is today, is to bring its iconic wild style graffiti culture to its residents. When we think about the impact that art has had through its decades of styles and artists we wonder what it would have been like to meet the great artists such as Van Gogh, Dali, Picasso, Pollack, Frida Khalo or Diego Rivera. We wonder what it would be like if we could interact with them and understand  their interpretation of color, perspective and light as well as realism and imagination. When we look at art in the sense of the stylistic eras such as abstract,  impressionism, cubism and graffiti then we can begin to understand that art is not just about creating realism but about the current vision and voice of contemporary artists. We often wonder what was the spark that created great cities like Paris and LA, well the answer is simple, it was the contemporary artists who had no boundaries  to their expression. They gave life new meaning, new form, new interpretation and it was through this that many of us found its true beauty and value

Art and murals bring that artistic experience out to the public view where a community can not only interact with it but experiences its magical essence within their luxury living lifestyle.

As artists, sometimes we create art to fit the modern vibe of the pulsating city culture. It brings us together in ways that create special moments and interactions we would not otherwise have. We we can bridge the beauty of art with a unified community we enrich our surroundings. With art in living spaces, developers can now offer an advantage over other condominiums that do not offer an artist experience for its tenants and visitors. Art that captures an artistic moment but lends itself to change embracing an true contemporary artists vision. Graffiti in Miami not only sparked the Wynwood art scene along with an international art fair such as Art Basel at the convention center but it also brought an influx of international developers, residents, and tourists.  Miami toady stands as the undefeated graffiti and international mural  champion.

We hope to keep you update over the next few weeks as we continue our condominium mural in the heart of the city Midtown Miami near Design District.

See you soon! We love making all of our clients vision come to life through our artistic expertise! We treasure the impact it has, the lives it changes and the stories we hear and share from our interactions.

Color Dreamers Muralists embark on new Graffiti Mural for Midtown Miami developers

Graffiti and Modern Mural Mix at private pool deck in Midtown Miami

We have embarked on a new mural at the condominium located in Miami. The concept is a mix of wild style graffiti prominent on many of Wynwood walls and modern luxury retail of Design District. The mural is located on the private pool deck of the condos located in Midtown Miami 5.

Here’s a preview of the mural in process as we continue to add more murals throughout the condominiums 5th floor that includes a yoga studio, gym and beach style pool.

Graffiti is a great way to mix some urban elements while creating a unique piece of artwork that appeals to the younger professionals. In today’s Miami condominium market its important to stay competitive and add a unique element that not only reflects the culture and vibe of the city but also adds an artful design appeal that is refined in a luxurious way.

New Video of Mural for the YMCA released!

YMCA + HOYT Mural video in New Castle, PA

We are excited to bring to you the latest from our artistic mural journeys in New Castle,  Pennsylvania for the YMCA and HOYT Arts and Education Center. We created an artwork that would blend with the colors of the surrounding buildings and provide vibrancy and modernism to the area. The total process took us one month to complete. We had a wonderful time interacting with the local community who complimented us on the mural and we were able to catch footage of an entourage of nearby skaters while painting the mural.

At the end of the journey we were given an amazing tour of the Hoyt Arts and Education Center that was once owned by a brother and sister who were the descendants of Lewis Stiles Hoyt. We toured the amazing porcelain art collection and turned the thick pages of a muralists handbook to pattern making. The director took us through a day in the life of the Hoyt Family. We were most amazed by the industrial and mechanical antiques that facilitated processes such as clothes washing and linen ironing. The mixture of woodwork and modern architectural materials such as glass and metal stand in contrast to the traditional green clay roof creating a uniform balance that blends well with its surrounding nature. The center stands as a beacon of New Castle transcending it into the future. You can read more about the center and their amazing community efforts here.

A big thank you to Benjamin Moore Paint, Packard Paint and Hoyt Arts and Education Center for sponsoring us in the process.

Till next time!

Newly Completed Mural for YMCA in New Castle, Pennsylvania

color dreamers ymca mural pennsylvania

The Color Dreamers mural dream team complete new artwork for YMCA & HOYT Arts and Education Center

We just came back from our longest journey yet, New Castle Pennsylvania!

Home to the firework capital of the United States, the sleepy town of New Castle is also home to the Hoyt Arts and Education Center which hosts classes, exhibitions and public art programs geared at developing the city into the future.

We embarked on our journey late in August as we descended upon the small town located about 40 minute drive north of Pittsburgh. Along the way we encountered a baby blue colored bridge whose opening path led us along the hills that carved away at a the road to New Castle. Many of the homes, whose facades peppered in different bricks tones of raw sienna and burnt umber, laced the streets with their patriotic red, white and blue flags.

Many derelict buildings greeted us as we made our way into town. The windows of old structures stood shot out, cracked and exposed. The thriving town that once experienced growth due to immigration seemed to falter at the site of new development. Many of the store fixtures seemed as if frozen in 1970. The bouquets of florals hung from street posts creating an inviting aura with a myriad of spring flowers. We began to see the town unwind itself slowly.

We arrived at Hoyt Arts and Education Center, two mansions built in the 1940’s with patina colored tile upon the roofs, by a brother and sister who were the descendants of Lewis Stiles Hoyt. Both mansions stood on a stone walled grassy lots with numerous massive trees whose leaves had just begun to change colors for the season. The house we occupied was right across the street, a colonial home with porcelain chandeliers and large botanical wallpapers that matched the bathroom sinks. It was a very pleasant experience. We coordinated with our local team and ensured that all equipment and materials where ready for the mural painting process.

We began by paint spraying the entire wall with a blue primer and made our way towards creating our major shapes and sketches on the wall. As we continued our mural, we were greeted with many locals who began to express how much they loved the artwork we were creating. We heard the stories and interpretations from many community members and were surprised at how much positive feedback we were receiving. Many days of rain put us off schedule but as we painted away we noticed how our understanding or color deepened with this progress. We hand selected many of our colors and to our surprise got a partial sponsorship from our preferred paint company Benjamin Moore through the helpful local paint store Packard Paint

We worked many days with few days of rest but everyday was more exciting as we began to paint the layers of artwork. When you are focused on the best quality output then the result is that much more fascinating. We used many of the background tones to bring our characters to life. We made sure that the murals colors reflected the overall surrounding aesthetic of the town center. It is important as an artist and mural specialist that the tones and colors used in the artwork create harmony in its environment. With careful color selection we can always achieve optimum results that modernize, inspire the community and leave a lasting impression.

New Mural in progress for the YMCA in New Castle, PA

The Color Dreamers creates new Public Art Mural for YMCA

We are excited to announce that we have landed in New Castle, Pennsylvania for our latest mural project. We are working on a new mural in collaboration with the Arts and Education at Hoyt and the YMCA. This brick wall measure 50′ high by 100′ wide. So far our transformation is going well and we are being well received by the local community as we add color, geometric art and people to this artwork.

A few days of rain have delayed our process but that’s expected when dealing with an exterior mural. For this concept we added colors from the YMCA logo to ad a sense of color harmony that is useful when branding the identity of a company. The wall art will include a group of individuals jumping a finish line promoting wellness and health. At the bottom left we can see Buddy, a friendly dog who frolics alongside the happy group.

Here’s some photos of our progress so far! If you are in Pennsylvania and would like to see the work  in progress, you can find the mural is located at the YMCA in New Castle, Pennsylvania.

Our visit to Nelson BC Canada for their International Mural Festival

Color Dreamers creates new mural for Nelson International Mural Festival

We just landed in Nelson BC Canada for their first ever mural festival and we had quite an experience.  We created a mural, hosted a workshop, took part in a panel discussion and engaged with the local art community explaining our mural art process.  Before making our travel plans over to Canada, we first created a concept based on guidelines and recommendations by the business owner of the building.  We were given a corrugated tin corner wall that was the corner storage room of the building and the keyword “anvil.” We started to brainstorm a few ideas and created a few concepts we felt would work. We felt it was necessary to take advantage of the architecture and create an interesting focal point on the corner of the wall.

We created our mural artwork concept and got to packing. We made our journey through the highest mountains of British Columbia and three planes later we landed in the small town of Nelson.

Nestled in between mountains and  the Kootenay Lake , Nelson is a progressive town seeking to embrace a bit more diversity in their public artworks. We were housed just outside the city with a local mixed media artist and retired teacher whose house was filled with colorful sculptures and art. Our first Impression of Nelson was a peaceful, serene town with a flock of geese grazing on grass. The mountains had a distant smoke looming over. At the time we didn’t know it but it was smoke from the wildfires in neighboring Washington.

We got to work immediately and began the process of prepping the wall by power washing it and laying out our pre-sketch. We mixed our colors and over the next few days honed in on our work.

We hosted a community workshop titled “Top 10 Tips on Becoming a Professional Artist” where we gave some tips on best tools for becoming successful in the art world.  We also attended a panel discussion with 3 other artists that partook in the mural festival and the audience asked a few questions about our artistic process.

The mural that was created for this particular wall is 14′ feet high by 40′ wide. The wall surface was a challenge as the divots and corrugated pattern was not easy to paint with a brush but we always enjoy a a new challenge when it comes to art. The artwork is titled “Striking the Iron while its Hot” which pays homage to the craftsman spirit and iron workers. We took advantage of the corner of the walls and an illusion that appeared to look into a room. The cut away was created painting a faux brick wall that appeared to be incomplete.

The colors chosen provides a warm glow for those winters in Nelson and we used an array of complimentary colors to accent the glass sitting on the shelves in the room. On the Nelson Artwalk opening night we got the talk with many local residents who expressed how the murals are a  beautiful way to add color and vibrancy to the neighborhood.  We had a small opportunity to take a pictures with some of the crowd.

Towards the end of our journey the smoke in Nelson was so bad that many outbound flights were cancelled. At one point the sun had been so glazed with smoke it looked red.  We had to take a greyhound bus 11 hours north to the nearest airport and fly out of Calgary and left on the late night flight. It was quite a journey and it was special in many ways. We are happy to have had the opportunity to make the town of Nelson a more vibrant and colorful place.   Articles in the Nelson Star can be found here :

New video release for our Wynwood Smoke and Lounge mural

Wynwood Flamingo Mural Color Dreamers

We have been digging through our video vault of past projects and we have come across some of the videos our showcasing our process for our flamingo and chimp mural that we created for Wynwood Smoke Lounge. Located in Miami’s thriving arts district known as Wynwood, we completed this mural back in October 2017. The lounge has had a lot of tourist traffic since its opening and we are excited to share our work and art with the local and international community.

As usual we start our process with mixing our colors from primary red, blue and yellow with splashes of black and white. For this particular project we created a series of geometric patterns with a color scheme that fits the interior design. The patterns where created using taped forms. The artist, Amir Shakir then painted the chimp aka “Slick Chimp” and the flamingos who smoke a hookah in the lounge area.

We had a bast on this one and working with the clients ideas and input really made the outcome impressive. Every mural is unique and specific to the goals and environment. We take care in making sure that the surface is properly prepared, that the art relates to the clients needs and that the message is clearly communicated. As artists, we feel that the key to great art is is leaving a lasting impression. We ensure that the mural art theme relates to the functions and customers of the shop and lounge. Many visitors to Wynwood have tagged us in all their selfie shots with the murals and we are able to see how people interact with the art in the space. It is a true blessing and joy to work in a field that we love and enjoy. Our clients are always very happy with the result and we maintain lasting friendships from the entire process.
