Miami Mural Artist LEBO dies at 50

Local mural Miami artist dies

Many Miami natives have seen the mural artworks of artist LEBO. It was very sad to hear the news today that he has passed away. The prominent street artist was known for his early Miami murals in a cartoon style with vibrant colors. Lebo, was a very well respected and liked local artist who continually reached out to his community gifting artworks and advice on making art. As artists who know the difficulties of navigating the art world and creating art on dangerously high walls. We appreciate all the artists that put in the love and work that it takes to go big!

LEBO was a very special artist to Miami and he will defiantly be missed! We share some of his process here on this massive Miami Beach mural for which he created on a swing stage over the water. The dedication it takes to create these murals is not for the faint of heart. Those afraid of heights need not apply.

“A big reason I chose to highlight the Monk Parakeet for this project is its unique nature as a tropical species. Not only can their interesting squawking be heard throughout the area, but you can also see their family nests located in palm trees all around Miami Beach. Below the parakeet and night jasmine blossom is a stylized wave pattern inspired by the Art Deco movement, another trademark of Miami Beach. The lifeguard stand also captures another Miami Beach highlight with its delightful one of a kind feel, as it stands dotting the Atlantic”. – Lebo

About the artist Lebo

David Le Batard, better known in the art world as Lebo. He is recognized for working in a wide spectrum of creative mediums including murals, paintings and sculptures. Lebo is the innovator of Postmodern Cartoon Expressionism – a combination of cartoon imagery, richly saturated balances of color and unique linear composition brought together in a narrative style to inspire emotion and create layers of meaning. We leave you with some of our favorite artworks of his, including this massive cruise-ship mural he painted for Norwegian Cruise Line. We hope you enjoy. Please share his art worldwide as we mourn the loss of another fellow artist.

LEBO, really gave Miami a piece of his creativity and heart. Rest in Paradise.

Miami Muralists complete mural in Wynwood at Solana Spaces

Our latest mural in Wynwood Miami really brings out the exciting role we play as artists. Our client wanted something colorful that reflects Miami life. The concept that we came up with merges graffiti and Miami beach. With fun pops of color, this mural really looks amazing. Murals can really enhance a retail space. In fact, they can be a beautiful backdrop for photos as well making events a breeze. This is why it is important to consult artists whenever you are looking to add something more unique and memorable.

This mural has a city skyline with palms in the distance. The orange glow of the sky gently illuminates the ocean. The artwork depicts a highway with layered graffiti. The colors are pastel and neon much like many of Miami’s iconic art deco colors. This retail mural in Wynwood really takes your breath away!

Miami Mural Artists

As Miami natives we have been creating art murals and participating in art exhibits in the area for over ten years. Throughout our time we have learned how to approach art in a variety of techniques and styles. We pride ourselves in our diligence and attention to detail on every mural project we complete. Throughout years of mastering color, light and perspective we have been able to take our art to the next level providing optimum quality to all of our projects and clients.

Miami is a beautiful place filled with vibrant people, colorful art and sunny beachside landscapes. We are lucky to call Miami our home as well as to be able to participate in the creative art process that exists here. We find that the best art in the SOuth Florida area comes from Wynwood, the international world mecca for art. Over that last decade or so, Miami’s Wynwood Arts District as evolved into a the most art condensed area worldwide with over 9,000 murals. Miami is a great example on how many communities can bring art to their towns.

We have seen many other Florida cities adapt the Miami Wynwood model such as Hollywood, Boca Raton, and Fort Lauderdale. These areas have launched public art programs designed to attract more murals and artists to their areas. The programs help to promote art among community members and attract visitors. We feel that art can really bring people together and more cities are starting to catch on to the mural art movement. We hope that we can continue to expand our practice to more Florida cities and continue to beautify those areas that need it most.

Boca Raton, Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach are great areas that continue to attract new developments. yearly. We proudly serve those cities as well and even have a few public sculptures in Pompano Beach. If you or a client of yours is seeking a mural project for a residential property, event or commercial business feel free to contact us. We travel quite intensively for all projects because we believe that art can really transform a space and needs to be shared in more cities worldwide.
