Limewash in Miami – Subtle Textured Finish

Working with a property owner in Miami, we developed a unique limewash texture that is unlike what you commonly see. During the sample phase, we experimented with differnt textures that would work well in the space. The final limewash design has a rotational quality that feels softly energetic. The wall spans from the front to the rear of the home, covering the entire living room and entertainment spaces. Though it is subtle and not extremely visible, it produces an elegant backdrop in this classic luxury home.

The texture resembles overlapping bales of hay, but the technique used by the artist captures a beautiful and nearly uniform rotational motion. The feeling is organic and textured, yet controlled and energetic. Looking at the texture feels almost surreal, making the wall suitable for gazing and contemplation.

The colors are nearly white with a soft gray that becomes warm when the chandelier lighting is on. The homeowners rarely use the lights during the day, so the wall is mostly illuminated by natural light coming through the tall windows at the front and rear of the home. The flat finish of the limewash tames the reflections and any wavy imprefections of the wall disappear completely.

This limewash artwork frames the entrance to the dining room, which features a muted gray tropical wallpaper scene. Our color selections allowed us to complement this artwork and create a flowing connection between these spaces. We used high-quality, zero-VOC paints to ensure a durable finish and a healthy environment for the family.
